Sometimes when you change, you do not become a different person. You become the person you really are.
That person that you have hidden from others. That person that you have been suppressing to do your job or find the right relationship.
Spend time with yourself every day. Learn to be who you are and when you find yourself suppressing your personality around others, seek out those who allow the "real you" to come out.
You will have people in your life for whom you must "tone it down," just a little. Don't discount them all as they may have something to share and enhance your life. Just don't define yourself by those relationships.
Take some time to experience the wild, untamed, joyful and passionate you, uncensored and without boundaries. If you do this often enough, you will always be able to come back to that place no matter what the world throws at you.

One popular ritual in learning to love yourself is looking in the mirror and saying, "I love you!"
This may result in laughter or tears depending on where your level of self-esteem.
Don't rush the process. Forcing a relationship will only build resistance, even if the relationship is with yourself.
Gaze in the mirror and find what you love the most. Do you have pretty eyes? Full thick hair? High cheekbones? Or a Charming smile?
Pick one thing and focus on that. Allow your vision and heart to soften. You will soon see past the surface appearance and into your amazing soul.

When you are taking care of another person, you might find that sometimes your time is limited. However, if the person is someone you love or are trying to start a relationship with, you will usually find the time.
With yourself, you might take a short cut.
You no longer have that luxury as you are embarking on a romantic, loving relationship with you.
Do not give in to the temptation to cut corners or allow others to interfere with your "me" time. It is in the taking of this time that you become the kind of person who can better help, assist and love others.
What you do for you is just as important as what you do for another. Your own fuel tank must be filled if you want to drive and also if you intend to take others along with you.
If you need a little quiet time, take it! If you need the time to prepare a healthy meal, take it! If you need to get help and therapy for your personal issues take it!
As you become a better person, you have more gifts to share with the world. You can do a better job of healing others when you get the healing you need, in whatever form that must take.
You will also find that it is easier to love yourself when you do these things and that is the ultimate goal.

You often underestimate the importance of self-love. You know it is a spiritual necessity, but like doing housework or taking care of your physical bodies, you avoid it because it is work.
When you show yourself love, it can be work. Just as it can be work to show love to another. But what do you feel when you are on the receiving end of that love, that leap in your heart as your beloved walks into the room, that squeal of delight at yet another token of affection?
