A Red Light When You Are Late

It always seems to happen.  You have a busy day planned.  Deadlines looming, you set aside a special day to get all of your important work done. “This is it! Today is the day!”  You make up a schedule, determined to stick to it.

Then, morning arrives.  You wake up with a migraine headache, your Internet is down and your car’s battery has died. You are now unable to finish that project, run your errands or start that new workout routine.  You continue , in vain, to access the internet, repeating the same steps to no avail, wasting time in the process. You yell at your car and bang your pounding head against the wall.  “This is why I can’t get anything done!” you lament.

Ok. Time for some honesty. Remember, we are not judging you.

Did you have other opportunities to do this work or project?  What would you do if you could go back in time?  What will you do when all is right again?

Think of what you are trying to accomplish.  How does it feel to you?  Is it hard work that you would rather avoid? Could it be made less stressful? Could it be broken down into more manageable steps?

The Universe prefers a balance of work and play and will often give you “red light when you are late” moments to keep you from doing too much at once.  Often, your stress level gets too high and you need to slow down and prioritize so that when you have all things accessible to you, you will make better use of your time.

Sometimes a little adversity brings out the creative genius in you.  You have to think harder to work around problems.  Limiting yourself can help you develop skills you never knew you had.

There are also times when you are on the wrong path, or on the right path at the wrong time.  Taking the bus to work might put you in the path of a new business contact who can help your career.  A delay might cause you to rethink your project and make improvements, or allow you to take action at the perfect time to ensure your success.

When you find yourself delayed, know that there is a reason.  Ask, listen and take appropriate action (or no action) as instructed.

You are never late and never in the wrong place.  Do your best and release your worries. You are here, the time is now, and this moment is the only one you need ever be concerned about. ~Silas
