Re-Writing the Story

You have vivid imaginations, capable of amazing visions.

What would happen if you used this vision to create beauty and love instead of fear and hate?

When you see a person who makes you fearful, what is the source of that fear?

Did this person actually hurt you? Then your fear is valid.

Did someone who looked like them hurt someone who looked like you? Do they belong to a group that did something to harm another person? Are they just so different that you don't have an opinion to form, but you create a fear-based one and view them as a threat?

The man covered in menacing tattoos may be a doctor who saves lives. The standoffish young woman may have been recently assaulted and has not yet learned to trust. The person whose skin is of a different color than yours may be somebody's mother, brother, child or the best friend they ever had.

If you don't know someone's story, and can't make up a positive one, then don't make up one at all. Better yet, get to know the person and create a whole new chapter.

Changing the world is not as hard as you think. But it does mean working hard to change your thinking. ~Silas
