Looking Out for the Lifeguard

When you love yourself, giving yourself the same time, attention and energy that you would give a prospective lover you are trying to seduce, you are actually doing a service to those around you.

A lifeguard serves the swimmers she protects by staying in shape and taking the time to train and educate herself.

She pays attention to those on the beach as well as those in the water, but does not allow them to drain her time or energy as she has her work to do.

When she jumps in the pool to help one who is drowning, she must stay in control of the encounter. Otherwise a panicked swimmer might pull her down as well.

This would not be a selfless act as both would most likely drown.

Self-care has a trickle out effect, helping not only the individual, but also those whom they encounter.

Loving yourself is the first step towards loving the whole world. And, yes, your heart is capable of loving the entire world with room to spare. Let the loving begin today! ~Silas
