Always Let Go

You have not been put on this Earth alone.  There are countless souls among you here, and an infinite number of souls who would like to be here.  You are all here for a reason, and it is all about you.

It is an act of kindness to support the dreams of another.  You incur good karma helping those who are lost or broken.  At some point, however, the help must cease, as the other person gets stronger, or heals and moves forward.

You may give to another person and find yourself exhausted and depleted of energy.  You set your own dreams aside to assist a friend or loved one.  You may feel so dependent on the energy of another, that you wear yourself out holding on so that you will not feel alone.

If you continuously enable a person who refuses to help themselves,  you are not being helpful.  Instead, you are doing harm as they will not be able to stand on their own when you have exhausted your energy and collapsed.  A mother bird will only feed her babies until they have grown wings and are able to fly and find food on their own.  Can you imagine a clutch of full grown birds crowded into a tiny nest, while their mother exhausts herself finding food for them, starving herself in the process?  When she dies, the birds are vulnerable to predators as they cry, starving in their nest, unable to fend for themselves.

When you cling to another, you exhaust yourself in the process.  You look to a source outside of yourself and will eventually drain it dry.  If they are strong, they will break free of your influence and you will feel a painful recoil as an unhealthy connection snaps.  If they are not strong enough, you will find yourselves locked in an unhealthy embrace as you both plummet towards the ground.  Neither one of you will achieve success or fulfillment.

Whether you are dragging or being dragged, you must let go.  This will not end the relationship, but improve it.  Healthy relationships are energizing and inspiring, and they are best nurtured in freedom.

A bird in a cage is a sad sight.  Open the door and take to the skies!  This is the ultimate act of love.  If given freely, your flock mates will always return to perch near you and sing songs of their adventures.  Then you can sing of yours. ~Silas

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Healing can be a messy business.  Emotional healing is extremely difficult for most people.  Many would rather heal from a broken leg than a broken heart.  A break that is improperly set can leave you damaged for life.

You can put it off, deny it or suppress it with painkillers, but the problem remains until you chose to heal it. A bit of hard work is required,  but the ends always justify the means.  You will be glad you started the process.  Whether you’re healing from a death, divorce,  job loss or illness, healing takes time, but suppression and denial waste time. It’s okay to be gentle with yourself, but for Heaven’s sake, get started.  You owe it to yourself.

Healing doesn’t take place all at once. There are steps, phases and plateaus and a qualified counselor is always helpful if you can afford it. If not, just think of Nellie Forbush from “South Pacific”.  Healing is not as simple as washing your hair, but it is a good place to start:

·         Lather-  Start the process. Get wet with a good cry, lather with some self-care and pampering.  It’s okay to feel the emotions. It may hurt, but you are only visiting the feelings, you are preparing to send them packing. It is temporary. You are setting out the boxes and trash bags and preparing to clean house. Things may look messy at this point, but that is okay.

·         Rinse-  Begin to let go. Release pain and heartbreak and allow healing to come in.  Purge your closets, get a new hairstyle, buy some new clothes. Perform a releasing ceremony. Have fun and laugh at every opportunity. You are rebirthing yourself for the better.  Let it show.

·         Repeat-  Healing can take a long time, but with each cycle of healing, you get better and stronger.  The sadness goes away and you have moments of joy and bliss. When the energy gets heavy, repeat the process. It gets easier each time.

Healing can be like a new workout routine.  It is hard to do in the beginning, but once you start to see results, you are encouraged to continue. You are worth it. ~Silas

A Red Light When You Are Late

It always seems to happen.  You have a busy day planned.  Deadlines looming, you set aside a special day to get all of your important work done. “This is it! Today is the day!”  You make up a schedule, determined to stick to it.

Then, morning arrives.  You wake up with a migraine headache, your Internet is down and your car’s battery has died. You are now unable to finish that project, run your errands or start that new workout routine.  You continue , in vain, to access the internet, repeating the same steps to no avail, wasting time in the process. You yell at your car and bang your pounding head against the wall.  “This is why I can’t get anything done!” you lament.

Ok. Time for some honesty. Remember, we are not judging you.

Did you have other opportunities to do this work or project?  What would you do if you could go back in time?  What will you do when all is right again?

Think of what you are trying to accomplish.  How does it feel to you?  Is it hard work that you would rather avoid? Could it be made less stressful? Could it be broken down into more manageable steps?

The Universe prefers a balance of work and play and will often give you “red light when you are late” moments to keep you from doing too much at once.  Often, your stress level gets too high and you need to slow down and prioritize so that when you have all things accessible to you, you will make better use of your time.

Sometimes a little adversity brings out the creative genius in you.  You have to think harder to work around problems.  Limiting yourself can help you develop skills you never knew you had.

There are also times when you are on the wrong path, or on the right path at the wrong time.  Taking the bus to work might put you in the path of a new business contact who can help your career.  A delay might cause you to rethink your project and make improvements, or allow you to take action at the perfect time to ensure your success.

When you find yourself delayed, know that there is a reason.  Ask, listen and take appropriate action (or no action) as instructed.

You are never late and never in the wrong place.  Do your best and release your worries. You are here, the time is now, and this moment is the only one you need ever be concerned about. ~Silas

Fair Compensation

Money is not a bad thing, as many of you have been taught to believe.  It is, or was intended to be, a description of work that you’ve done. You can work with your physical body, your logical mind, or your creative imagination.

Those who give and receive money, like authors, can write an accurate detailed description of the energy that you have expended.  They can also exaggerate or downplay your efforts, depending on their generosity and  integrity (or lack thereof).

Fair compensation gives you a sense of satisfaction.  It makes the work you’ve done feel worth it. There is no resentment for taking too little or guilt for taking too much.  You have enough to meet all of your expenses and a surplus to enjoy. There is nothing wrong with that.

The problem is your attitude about money.  Many of you believe that it is evil and that it makes people do bad things. This can be true, but not all people who have money are greedy and out of touch.

Some believe that money is a privilege granted to those who work very hard or very smart. They believe that those who do not have it are stupid or lazy.  Not all of the poor are in that situation because of a refusal to work or inability to do quality work.

In truth, money is paper (or metal).  You have great earning potential within you.  Just drop all of your worries and decide what your job is in this world. Work at that job.  Perhaps it is service, or healing work. Perhaps you like to entertain and inspire.  Try on your passion.  Do you want to be a singer? Then sing. Sing for yourself, for friends, your children and pets, or at a spiritual gathering or charity event. Do you want  to be a dancer? Then dance, in your living room, at a night club or gathering.  You are not dancing your life away, just feeling the sensation. What would it feel like to do this for a living? Set aside some time and follow your passion with intention.  Allow the Universe to guide you to your career path. Remembering that you must take action when guided to do so, and be open to options presented to you that you may not have considered.

As for compensation, money is just one form.  You might not get paid directly for what you do, but the Universe will honor your beliefs about money and how much or how little you feel you deserve. You may find that you receive unexpected gifts, a hand-me-down of something you desperately needed, a small lottery win or a check or money you had misplaced. Pay attention to these compensations and be grateful.  They will usually increase if you do.

Money is no more evil than a blank piece of paper.  That paper can be used to write a birth certificate, a friendly letter, a death decree, or a great story.  It’s up to you.  What story do you want to tell? ~Silas

The Truth Is in There

There was a time when your news media was held accountable for the facts it would present.  Anything broadcast or put into writing, had to be verified or it couldn’t be made public.

Today, anyone can write a story and put it on the Internet. No fact-checking needed.  It can be unbiased and well-researched, or invented to support the writer’s opinion or viewpoint.  All you need is a computer and a few basic skills and you can present yourself as an expert, even if you are not.

Trying to find the truth under these circumstances can be a challenge that will give you a migraine. You find some evidence only find out that the source is either suspect or blatantly biased. So, what do you do?

Well my dear, human friends, the time has arrived. It is time to take your decision making skills back from the mainstream media, your churches, your politicians and your families.

Go into the attic and find the dusty old hatbox in which you left your thinking cap.  You will find that it’s still there and it still fits.

Your brain works perfectly well with no outside help telling it what to think.  It can, however, benefit from  inside help.

Many of you have lost touch with your intuition, or  “gut instinct”. Sit quietly and breathe. Get in touch with how your body feels. Feel your muscles, your joints, your skin sensations and your breath.

Then ask your body what “yes” feels like. Note differences in energy and pressure.  Do you feel heat or tingling anywhere in your body? You might even get an accompanying mental image that will show you what the energy looks like, its color, shape and texture.  If all you get is a feeling, that’s fine. Thank your body and remember the feeling.

Next, ask your body what “no” feels like. Note the changes and sensations. Practice this body question and answer game. Use it to make small decisions.  Should you eat an apple or a peach? Should you take the normal route to work or the scenic one? You have just become a human truth detector.
When you are faced with new information ask-  truth (yes), not truth (no). This way you can determine whether the information is useful or not.

As you practice, you will begin to trust yourself more and your intuition will grow stronger. Your fears will decrease, and you will empower yourself with the ability to make good decisions based on information that you can trust.

Your heart and your gut will tell you. The truth is in there. ~Silas
