Please Yourself First

When you live your life seeking only the approval of others, you will not likely find it.

Some are inclined to criticize whether or not there is a reason. For some it gives them a sense of superiority and artificially raises their self-esteem.

There are those who are determined, no matter what the circumstances, to be unhappy and displeased with the situations and people around them.

Do not envy them, even if they are in a position of power or appear to be successful.

When you live your life for others, you will lose yourself. This is a terrible experience and one you do not want, even if you could make everyone around you happy.

You can only do your work, both physical and spiritual to the best of your ability and when you have done that, be proud, and move on to the next step.

There are simply too many people in the world to keep happy all the time. This is not  your assignment on Earth.

Do your best and make yourself happy. Others will flock to you and want to know the secret of your competence, and creativity.

When you release the need to be a "people pleaser" you will find a freedom and joy that can never compare to a smile on someone else's face.

Look in the mirror and admire your own smile. It is truly a thing of beauty. ~Silas

Loving All of Your Selves

Life becomes sheer joy when you learn to love who you are.

You wake up in the morning, unburdened by insecurities and fear, and jump into life with both feet.

You cannot do this, however, if you do not learn to love who you were.

You must learn to accept that  frightened, unsuccessful, long-suffering individual you used to be.

It was that person, who took a big gamble, faced her fears head on, gathered every bit of power he had (which was not much at the time) and transformed failure and pain into survival and success.

Whom would you respect more, a billionaire who spends $1000 dollars on an idea, or a working class man or woman who scrapes together every cent they have, perhaps skipping meals and walking around in old clothes to come up with the money to finance their dream.

If both are successful, would you not think more of the hard worker than the one who merely writes the check?

They may, actually, be the same person.

The billionaire might not exist had the poor person not taken a chance when they had very little to work with.

The worker is the parent, the hero, the one who took a chance and made the tough choices.

It would be illogical for the pauper to hate his future billionaire self. Yet, you often send your disgust and anger back to your former self, the one who has so little to begin with.

Instead of rejecting who you were, send love to that brave soul. Fall in love with the one who refused to give up.

Thank your future self for the success that has brought you security and peace of mind, but do not fail to send gratitude to your past self who worked tirelessly, (and from your future self's perspective, still does) to change your life for the better.

Do this daily, and you will see your life getting better on all levels. We promise you. ~Silas

Life is Change

When you decide to change something in your life, prepare for a challenge.

That is not to discourage you, but rather to inform. Any good worthwhile change, will have a challenge attached to it. The trick is not to give up when you are challenged, believing that you have reached an impasse.

If all things in life were easy, you would do the right thing immediately. Change is difficult. It is also the way life works.

You can look at your life and see what is not working and make a change, or you can wait until it becomes impossible to continue the way you have been and Life will force your hand.

Either way, the change is made, but if you make it yourself, then you get to control it. You will decide how fast and how far you will go. You can power through the difficulties, or take a slow and more comfortable pace.

Lasting change for the better takes time. Have faith in your decisions and do not let the doubts of others dissuade you.

You may be wrong. You may try to make a change and find that it is not in your best interest.

You are allowed to be wrong. Trying something new comes with that risk. Learn to let go of ego, hold up your head and say, "Yes, I was wrong. I will try something else now."

Do not give your power away to the opinions of others.

A baby will make hundreds of mistakes before learning to walk, but if he gave up, he would be doomed to a life of immobility. His freedom and choices would be limited.

As will it be for you, if you go through your life with the idea of surviving rather than succeeding.

You did not come to Earth to lead a life of mediocrity. You are a star that fell from the heavens to shine its unique light upon the planet.

Decide how you want to shine that light, then take a step, no matter how small, to make it happen.

The hard steps are always the first ones. As you train your muscles, the next ones will be easier.

Soon, your new routine will be change, and you will find yourself living the life of your dreams, or at least, walking down a pleasant path to get there. ~Silas

Little Commitments

Changing your life is a complex business. You may find yourself stopping and starting, committing to something new, and then forgetting about it the next day.

This is in your nature. Routines and constant repetition are what will bring you success. Practicing an instrument or a new song or faithfully visualizing while repeating affirmations takes determination, but it is the best way to get there.

You resist change because you want this routine. Your current routine, or lack thereof, is comfortable and feels safe, but it is not bringing you that which you desire. Your spirit knows that routine is the key to success, so you tend to fall into routines, even unhealthy ones. Your change will ideally become a new routine. In order to get there, however, you must break with the old one.

It is the most challenging thing you can do, but the doing will change your life. Hopefully in a good way if you are making positive choices.

It takes several weeks to ingrain a new habit. This is what can be discouraging. That is a long time to be disciplined; to wake up early or turn off your television. It is a long time to spend without your favorite snacks or foods that are tasty, but not healthy.

Give yourself a smaller commitment. Try your new thing for 1 day. Commit to that day and do what you hope will become part of your life.

When you are done, celebrate. Pat yourself on the back. Then try for two days. If you don’t succeed, relax. Try again another day.

Keep adding more days to the commitment until the new habit has become a part of your life.

Then add another goal and use the same process.

Celebrate your little successes and jump back in and try again when you do not succeed.

Ask why you do not succeed on some days. They may give you the answer you need to reach your goal.

If you are alive on Earth at this time, you are among the elite of souls. Many on both sides of the veil are pushing for you.
Do not allow small setbacks to deter you. You are here to grow and achieve. Success is your birthright, prosperity is always around you.

Own your divinity, and never give up. Graduation day will be glorious. ~Silas
